It all begins at Reception
Our delightful nature lodge borders some of the oldest indeginous forest in South Africa,
the perfect space for a base camp to begin your journey of exploration into the Auckland Nature Reserve.
Hike to the surrounding waterfalls such as the Swallow Tail and the Madonna & Child Falls right from your very doorstep.
Like any amazing journey, it all starts with a little planning.
Our reception is the perfect place to begin the preparations for your upcoming mountain getaway,
and remember to plan some extra R&R time into the trip so you can enjoy our famous cliff edge bath.

Self Catering Cottages
Amid our forested garden, we have 3 fully equipped
self-catering cottages, (with romantic open fireplaces) that offer privacy and tranquility.
Each cottage offers a stand alone option and has its own
private outside seating and braai areas.
Each apartment is fully equipped with kitchenettes made out of solid chunky wood,
while you can cozy up in snuggly winter duvets and extra blankets,
open fireplaces as well as fresh towels.
Self Catering Apartments
Amid our forested garden, we have 3 fully equipped
self-catering cottages that offer privacy and tranquility.
Each cottage offers a stand alone option and has its own
private outside seating and braai areas deep within the forest.
Each apartment is fully equipped with kitchenettes made out of solid chunky wood,
while you can cozy up in snuggly winter duvets and extra blankets,
heaters as well as fresh towels.
Double En-suite
This room has a beautiful view onto the forest
and is the closest private room to the viewpoint,
cliff bath and start of trails. Perfect for couples.
Includes towels, sheets and extra blankets.
Each room also has a kettle, coffee, tea and sugar.
Has access to the nearby main house amenities – including shared kitchen.
Includes free Wi-Fi & large main house lounge with WIFI.
Dorms / Backpacking
The Dorms are perfect for Amatola Hiking groups, backpackers and/or extended families
and have access to a shared fully-equipped self-catering kitchen,
2 bathrooms with showers as well as a large comfy lounge and open fireplace.
In the lounge you can sit back and relax and plan your hikes and upcoming adventures.
Our dorms have bunk-beds, all with winter duvets, bedding, pillows and heaters.
You do however need to bring your own towels.
Includes Free Wi-Fi.
Camping Life
Our Campsites are located in and around a stretch of indigenous forest
set in our spacious back-garden.
You have the option to choose a spot in a grassy area or
find a secluded secret place in our stunning forest.
Camping includes the use of a shared kitchen, braai areas and shower facilities.
Unfortunately, we do not provide any camping equipment.
Please note that there are limited electricity points.
